Abstract:
In 2016 the second round of draft environmental and construction planning reports (called "resource reports") for the Alaska LNG Project were released. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has sent an additional 96 pages of comments and questions from federal and state agencies on ten of the project's twelve draft environmental, engineering, design, and operations reports issued during the second round. Some comments deal with issues on the North Slope, the pipeline route, Nikiski, and environmental impacts. Earlier in the month FERC sent 266 pages covering five of the reports. The three private partners in the venture decided not to proceed with a formal application to FERC in 2017, so the State of Alaska is negotating the transition agreements to continue the project.
