Abstract:
Yukon Pacific Corporation is applying for authority to export liquefied natural gas from Port Valdez, Alaska to Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan through the use of the Trans-Alaska Gas System (TAGS) pipeline. The proposed Alaska Asian Gas System is described. The catalyst for this plan is the "Joint Policy Statement on Japan-U.S. Energy Cooperation" issued by Japan's Prime Minister Nakasone and U.S. President Reagan on November 11, 1983. This lead to a pre-feasibility study; the summary report of that study is Attachment E.
