Abstract:
This procedure manual describes the research methodology for conducting an investigation on potential effects of the proposed Susitna Hydroelectric Project on seven big game mammal species in the upper Susitna River basin. The species are moose, caribou, timber wolf, black bear, brown (grizzly) bear, wolverine, and Dall sheep. The study area is upriver of the proposed Devils Danyon Dam, although moose wintering areas along the lower river will be studied. The purpose is to assess the magnitude of possible effects and to prepare mitigation plans.
