Biographical/Historical Data:
By 1923 Canadian National (CN) was one of the world's largest railroads. CN also operated express services, a telegraph company, a chain of hotels, and a steamship line. In 1923 CN president Sir Henry Thornton established a radio network in Canada and North America to entertain train travelers (now Canadian Broadcasting Corporation). In 1937 national airline Trans-Canada Air Lines (TCA, now Air Canada) was established as a subsidiary of Canadian National Railway.
