Abstract:
The Susitna Doc Finder is a comprehensive online catalog of documents that provides full-text access to reports from every phase of the historic 1970s and 1980s Susitna Hydroelectric Project (known also as the SuHydro Project) under the auspices of the Alaska Power Authority. This project, costing an estimated $227 million in research, produced a body of work embodied in thousands of documents. The catalog also encompasses the more recent Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project (SuWa Project) under the auspices of the Alaska Energy Authority, for which documents were produced between 2010 and 2018. Moreover, the catalog covers previous reports (one dating as early as 1902) that are applicable to the planning of these development projects, and, additionally, covers reports written for the earlier phases of water power development plans in the Susitna River basin beginning in the 1950s. These older documents are captured in this special catalog for their historical significance and still-relevant resource information. Taken together, the catalog records and the links to the electronic documents preserve essential information on all aspects of the SuHydro and SuWa projects--technical engineering, environmental impacts, and economic effects. Print copies of all cataloged documents are held by the ARLIS.
