Abstract:
Japanese utilities are becoming engaged in big LNG ventures by buying small shares in gas developments and liquefaction facilities in Australia and North America. These utilities are less content to contract with the latest LNG mega-project and wait for its first delivery. This includes companies such as Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO), Tokyo Gas, Kansai Electric, Osaka Gas, Chubu Electric, Kyushu Electric Power, and Toho Gas. However, their equity percentages are relatively small. Other types of companies are also investing in LNG projects, and companies in Korea and China are also doing the same. Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) is the world's largest LNG importer.
