Title:
Civilian Conservation Corps - Matanuska Valley Photographs, 1935-1941.
Physical Description:
.25 cubic feet.
Abstract:
This collection contains 141 photographs from a photograph album dating from 1935 through 1941, taken in Alaska, Seattle, San Francisco and Reno. Of particular interest are the photographs taken in Alaska, the bulk of which relate to construction activities, probably by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), in the Matanuska Valley and Palmer, Alaska, in preparation for the arrival of the colonists. Included are photographs on the deck of the S.S. Yukon, the Knik River and several photographs taken during a Glacier trip that presumably the CCC workers took in 1935.
