Abstract:
The Lynn Smith diaries, correspondence, photographs and financial records form a major part of the Herbert Heller Collection. The collection also contains a series of manuscripts entitled "Historical Remembrances" of other Alaskan Pioneers. The last part of the collection consists of Heller's personal correspondence, memorabilia, pamphlets, etc. relating to Alaska Methodist University.

Herbert Heller, Dean of Alaska Mehthodist University and avid collector of historical materials on Alaska, was the nephew of (Robert) Lynn Smith, a gold miner and jeweler who came to Alaska in 1898 and later served as U.S Marshal in Fairbanks.
