Pt. 1. Dave Lacey talks about his parents, Lawrence Lacey and Maureen Kolbo Lacey, his father's work, moving around Arizona, attending the University of Arizona in Tucson, coming to Alaska for the first time, working for Offshore Navigation Incorporated, the military draft, returning to Alaska in 1976, attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks, working for the student orientation services as a tutor, Jack Utton, working for Tanana Chiefs on a summer job, graduating from the University of Alaska in 1980, working with Jeff Volteen, Susitna dam, working for the Dinyea Corporation in Stevens Village as a general manager, Marjorie Mayo, Eric Smith, creating a new constitution for Stevens Village, Bob Anderson, getting the federal government to manage subsistence on federal lands, Jim Carey, Kilburn George, Leonard John, Horace Smoke, political rights of Alaskan Natives, land use planning, tourist activities, pump stations on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, Alyeska, Chuck Hamel, Molly Lee, the road to Rampart, working with the Japanese visitors, and starting a natural foods co-op.
