It contains family papers, including genealogies, correspondence, diaries, and scrapbooks. Much of the collection relates to Geoghegan's linguistic work and includes materials on Aleut, Esperanto, Japanese, Eskimo, and Athapascan languages. The James Theodore Geoghegan series contains an autobiographical manuscript titled "Sojourn in the Yukon and Alaska", as well as photographs that Geoghegan took, mostly of the Donnelly, Alaska, area. The John Willis Christopher Geoghegan series consists of a single folder containing an autobiographical narrative.
