The Seiffert family photographs consist of 5 photograph albums and loose photographs documenting the daily lives and work of the Seiffert family in Alaska and British Columbia, Canada. Many of the earliest photographs in the collection, dating from the early 1900s, were taken in Nome and the adjacent area, where Gustav Seiffert was involved in mining. The photographs show mining activities, daily life in Nome, and family and friends of the Seifferts. Also included are images of storm damage, street scenes and theatrical productions. Photographs from the 1920s document mining activities in the Hyder, Alaska, and Stewart, B.C. region where Vincent G. "Binks" Seiffert worked. Photographs from this time period include mining activities of the North & South Syndicate and Emporer Mining Ltd. Other photographs show daily life in Hyder and Stewart. Photographs from the 1920s and 1930s include many images from Seward, Alaska, as well as images from Hope and Ketchikan. Also included are images relating to aeronautics and air travel in Alaska. The Seifferts traveled both in and outside of Alaska. Photographs in the collection include images from Council, Iditarod, Ruby and Hope, Alaska, as well as images taken in Seattle, Hong Kong and Canton.
