Abstract:
The Dobbs Photograph Album contains images taken by B. B. Dobbs. The photographs focus primarily on gold mining in Interior Alaska. There are also photos from Western Alaska and from the Yukon Territory. The images cover many aspects of mining including placer works, hydraulic mining, and sluice box operations. The burned leather cover of the album indicates that it is a "Nome Souvenir." Most of the album, however, depicts locations other than Nome.
Biographical/Historical Data:
Dobbs, B. B. (Beverly Bennett) was a professional photographer and filmmaker. He moved to Nome in 1900 as a gold seeker and continued his photography focusing on the local people and their activities.
