Abstract:
Sadie talks about her schooling in San Francisco, staying with the Walders, her first job as a dorm matron at the Eklutna Board School, homesickness, getting an offer to be in the film, The Eskimo, her return to Barrow, Will Rogers and Wiley Post, attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks, teaching at the BIA school, loss of the school and hospital to fire, her marriage to Nate, gas deal, heating oil mess, Eklutna, Chemawa, and Mount Edgecumbe boarding schools, first schools in Barrow, use of native language in the schools, and her efforts to upgrade school books and materials.
