Abstract:
Deb Boettcher talks about her personal background, her career as a biologist, sampling salmon, coming to Skagway in 1994, volunteering with the National Park Service, getting hired and working with Doreen Cooper, cataloging artifacts, some of the artifacts in the collection, using some of the artifacts in their educational program, learning to store the artifacts, inventories, Debbie Sanders, Samantha Richert, accepting collections relating to the gold rush era, accessing their collection, research questions, the location of the archeology collection, working on the Rapuzzi Collection, Phyllis Brown, George Rapuzzi, Martin Itjen, Soapy Smith Museum, researching the artifacts, having an exhibit of unidentified artifacts and asking the public to help identify them, job duties as the museum technician, creating exhibits for several locations, opening and closing exhibits every year, Martin Itjen's Skagway street car, different media in the collection, how some of the community felt about the park, the Park Service hiring local people, and enjoying her job with the Park Service.
