Agoff talks about many of the colorful residents of Flat over the years; the history of numerous buildings; prostitutes; his family history; gold mining; fires and other accidents; rival businesses and operations changing hands; freight services; moving buildings; anecdotes about Flat characters such as Alex Matheson, Walter Sakow, Mattie "Tootsie" Crosby, Joe Mitchell, Gus Bacstrom, Joe Cummings, and John Stevens; dumping garbage and salvaging lumber; warehouses and garages; photographs of Flat; the Agoffs' house; the dredge pump house; Matheson's dredge; the Matheson compound; the Alaska Communication System building; a 30 year-old can of cabbage that had turned to gas; hauling fuel; cabins that burned; Cottonwood Cemetery and some of the people buried there; Iditarod's cemetery; and the stern-wheeler Sea Wolf.
