On Part One, Donald Bryant Bedford talks about 50 years of aviation mechanics in Juneau including his early life and family background, first airplane flight in 1932, Slate Dirigible Corporation, Tom Slate, Slate family inventions, Slate dirigible, civilian pilot training in 1940, Lockheed P-38, Hudson air terminal work/training, Army aviation experience, small Los Angeles aircraft companies, Army flying--AT6, P-80s U.S. combat jets, working at Lockheed after WWII, leaving Lockheed for Alaska, arriving in Juneau in 1947 via Alaska Steamship, Grumman Goose, Alaska Coastal Airlines, Shell Simens/Bill Holden, PATCo., Dean Goodwin's company in Juneau, early aviation in Juneau, Widgin on floats, merger of Alaska Coastal Airlines with Ellis Air of Ketchikan, quick engine change, and Ken Buzzell.
