Abstract:
Mike, Nancy and Cora talk about what inspired them to hike the Chilkoot Trail, Dawson, Marge Egan, Mary Cook, Pat Sathrop, Jerry Noran, Jim McCord, using a guiding group for their trip, history of the Chilkoot Trail, Dyea, White Pass, Bennett Lake, how long the trail was, what kind of gear they carried, training for the hike on Ester Dome, other hikers in their group, highlights of their trip, the condition of the trail, Skagway, relics on the trail, Forbes Baker, National Park Service presence on the trail, the proposed park for the area, Fort Selkirk, the shelters on the trail, other people they know who have hiked the Chilkoot Trail, Jack Meese, Phyllis and Jerry Church, Claus Naske, hiking up the Golden Stairs, and advice for people planning the same trip. Mike talks about being joined by her husband and Skip Burns at Bennett Lake, floating down the Yukon River, Carcross, Kate Carmack, Bishop Bompas, Whitehorse, and Eagle.
