Abstract:
Sister Margaret Ann Silvey is interviewed by Steve Todd on April 13, 1993 in Kodiak, Alaska. Silvey talks about the founding of the mission of the Grey Nuns in Kodiak, where the nuns served as a nursing order at the Griffin Memorial Hospital for a number of years. She tells about the parochial school started by Sister Hilary and a priest, teaching at the school, and what different buildings were used for churches and schools. She describes arriving in Kodiak from Lowell, Massachusetts; working at the hospital; and changes in the "cozy" atmosphere of Kodiak.
