Abstract:
Mary Cichoski is interviewed by Kathy Duprey on April 8, 1995 in Kodiak, Alaska. Cichoski reminisces about growing up in Kodiak in the 1950s and 1960s. She describes things the kids did for fun, her neighbors, her parents, playing outside, berry picking, a trip to Bethel, perms, gardens, downtown Kodiak pre-1964, her father's living as a fisherman, memories of her mother, her family's experience of the 1964 earthquake and tidal wave,clean-up of the town and urban renewal, the Russian Church and Catholic Church, and traditions of the Crab Festival.
