Abstract:
These collections of stories and accounts of the traditional way of life in the villages of Sivuqaq (Gambell) and Savoonga on St. Lawrence Island, southwest Alaska, are told by elders born around 1900, in both English and Yupik, and include whaling, fishing and reindeer herding, with traditional drawings and historical photographs.
