Abstract:
This survey of the town of Kotzebue, northwest Alaska, the centre of the Northwest Arctic Borough, provides a comprehensive source of data on demography, employment, formal and informal social and cultural institutions, and infrastructure for analysis of sociocultural and economic conditions, including native peoples (Inupiaq Eskimos), subsistence activities and effects of offshore oil and gas exploration. Data is also to be stored in a machine-readable information retrieval system.
