Abstract:
"The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (Alaska DOT & PF) Central Region plans to construct 10 miles of new roadway north of Cooper Landing and the Kenai River between MP 46.5 and 55.5 of the Sterling Highway. The new roadway known as the Juneau Creek Alternative will be built in order to decrease traffic congestion and safety issues. As part of this new construction, a new bridge (Juneau Creek Bridge No. 1818) will be built spanning Juneau Creek near the Juneau Creek Canyon (Figure 1). Two inclined test holes were drilled to obtain bedrock discontinuity characteristics at the site of the foundation thrust blocks for planned bridge design. These two test holes were designed to supplement geotechnical foundation investigations carried out on behalf of Alaska DOT & PF by DOWL Engineering and Landslide Technology."--Page 1
