Metallurgical engineer with a strong interest in mineralogy and mining lore. Worked on mining projects in the U.S. and Africa. In 1957, he joined the U.S. Bureau of Mines at Juneau and in 1980 became State Minerals Officer; in this capacity he obtained the Kennecott Copper Mining Corp. records.
