Abstract:
On Part One, Sadie Brower Neakok talks about her stay in San Francisco and her education there, her view of Barrow after her stay Outside, the Wiley Post-Will Rogers plane crash, her work as a dorm hostess at the Eklutna Boarding School, problems among the students at the boarding school, BIA turns over responsibility for the public schools to Barrow, Morris Thompson, her career as a teacher in Barrow, clean house crusade, head lice, gas in homes, and churches in Barrow.

On Part Two, Sadie Brower Neakok talks about chores when she was a kid, missionary kids who learned to speak Inupiat, past times in San Francisco, life with a White father, learning to sew, mail order catalogs, her marriage to Nate, teaching, poverty, and sanitation in Barrow, her early years with Nate, and economics in Barrow.
