Abstract
H87-78-03 Sidney Huntington talks about the Hog River, the post office at Clear Creek, why the Hogatza River is called the Hog River, gold on the Bear Creek, Jack Eisenberg, Kobuk River, George Light, Eric and Charlie Swanson, trapping, Harry Brown, Robert Cleveland, Joe Beetus, Wolverine Smith, cabins on the Koyukuk River, George Attla, Little Sammy, Victor Bifelt, Ned Reagan, igloos in the Hogatza River area, grayling fishing in the Hogatza River, Three Mile Lake, Edwin Simon, Hog River Johnny, his father working as a river pilot on the Huslia River, Cap Green, Jim McLain, James Huntington, Charlie Swanson, the poor fishing on the Koyukuk River, hunting on the Huslia River and depleting the goose population, Lydia Simon, Bobbie Vent, subsistence, unpredictable moose and caribou populations, depending on fish for food, people moving around for resources, Whitefish Lake, poor fish production years, and extreme cold.
