Abstract:
June MacDonald is interviewed by Margaret Van Cleve on February 15, 1994 in Fairbanks, Alaska. MacDonald talks about her childhood and way of life in the 1920s and 1930s in Selawik, where her parents taught school for 9 years. She also tells about life in Fairbanks during WWII, working at Ladd Field and hostessing at the USO. In the early 1970s, she and husband Colin MacDonald became auxiliary captains in the Salvation Army. The tape concludes with MacDonald's return to Selawik for a visit with her brother and sisters after an absence of 50 years.
