Abstract:
Bonnie Wartes is interviewed by Bill Schneider in Fairbanks, Alaska on May 24, 2004. Wartes and husband Bill were Presbyterian missionaries to the North Slope in the 1950s. In this interview she describes their work in Barrow and how Bill began work with people in Anaktuvuk Pass. She describes the establishment of the church in Anaktuvuk Pass, and how the men hauled logs into the community. Wartes was accompanied during the interview by daughter-in-law Denise Wartes and Dennita Lawhead, a member of the Presbyterian Church in Fairbanks.
