Abstract:
Emitt Soldin is interviewed by Jeff Roberts on November 26, 1994 in Alaska. Soldin talks about his family history, growing up in Skagway, and World War II. He learned aviation mechanics in the Air Force, and later worked as a pilot in Alaska for Fish and Wildlife, the Bureau of Land Management, and the Federal Aviation Administration. Soldin also discusses statehood, flying for forest fire control efforts, the 1964 earthquake, the search for Clarence Rhodes's lost plane, his inclusion in the book, Heroes of the Horizon, personal aeronautical misadventures, airplanes, and his current aviation involvement.
