Abstract:
Part 1 (AAF-5050) images include Rudy Kranzi placer gold mine in mountains at Myrtle Creek near Wiseman, with caterpillars, sluice boxes, panning samples, building pipe segments for water to sluice box, pulling riffles and gold clean-up, large gold nugget, men breaking boulders using sledge hammers, man squaring log using broad axe (hand logging), and mining camp. Part 2 (AAF-5051) images include aerial view of mountains and mining camp during winter, views of gold mining camp during winter and summer, Airport Road construction at Fairbanks with caterpillar and scraper, F.E. Company conveyor system near Ester, man riding conveyor, walking dragline, gold dredge, remote gravel road, small placer gold mining operation, Victor Neck shovelling into sluice boxes with unusual lengthwise riffles (Hungarian riffles), and men crossing small stream on log and plank bridge. Films were shot by Charles H. Breck III (Charlie Breck), who lived at Wiseman, Alaska.
