Abstract:
Summary: Narrated by Olaus and Margaret (Mardy) Murie, this film summarizes the events of the Murie's 1956 expedition to the Sheenjek River Valley in northeastern Alaska, and presents an appeal to conserve wilderness areas in Alaska. The program includes images of a floatplane landing on a lake, the Brooks Mountain Range and braided rivers, an eagle and nest, Olaus and Mardy Murie, Mardy Murie washing clothes in a river or lake, ptarmigan, an arctic ground squirrel, Sheenjek River and overflow ice, caribou, floatplane taking off, base camp at Last Lake, mountains and flowers, moose, a ptarmigan chick, migrating caribou herd, and Olaus and Mardy Murie.
