Summary: Part 1 (AAF-1212) Part one of statewide broadcast of the inauguration of Robert W. Hiatt as fifth president of the University of Alaska on May 4, 1974. Includes images of the campus of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and scenes from the inauguration ceremony. Speakers include: Robert E. McFarland, president of the Board of Regents; the Reverend Donald P. Hart; William A. Egan; Ronald W. Wendte, student regent; David Hoke of the University of Alaska; Rodger Hughes, president of the Alumni Association; the marshal of the university; and Robert W. Hiatt, president of the University of Alaska. Former university presidents Drs. Moore, Patty, and Wood appear briefly during the ceremony, and the Chorale of the University of Alaska Anchorage performs. Part 2 (AAF-1213) Part two of the inaugural ceremony includes speakers Robert W. Hiatt, president of the University of Alaska; Robert McFarland, president of the Board of Regents; and the Reverend Walter A. Soboleff. The Fairbanks Choir of the North performs.
