ORAL HISTORY 93-15-36 Roger Allin talks about his father and grandfather and their influence on his professional life, his degree in wildlife management from Minneapolis, his work in fisheries management, his love for working outdoors, working for the Fish and Wildlife Service doing fresh water fishery studies in Alaska, flying in Alaska for his work, taking Ted Swem and others in the National Park Service on tours, relationship between National Park Service and the territorial government, George Collins, planning in Alaska for the National Park Service, working at preserving and protecting natural lands, public access to public lands, withdrawing lands from Bureau of Land Management lands for recreational use, Claire Engel, Wood-Tikchik area, withdrawals of land for public access to fishing, listing national significance areas for the National Park Service, Walrus Islands, Aniakchak crater, Arrigetch Peaks, the search for Clarence Rhodes, Brooks Range, enjoying the Alaska wilderness, accessing Gates of the Arctic by plane, his interest in the Wrangell-St. Elias area, fisheries research in the Wrangell-St. Elias area, McCarthy, ecological aspects of interest in the Wrangell-St. Elias region, Dick Leonard, his trip into the Wrangell Mountains in the late 1950s, working as a biologist in addition to fisheries, Park Service interest in Roger's areas of interest, and Lake Clark trips.
