Abstract:
H87-78-01 Lavine Williams talks about the stories his parents told him, moving around after 1934, his dialect occurring over a large area, working for Star Airlines, working in a gold mining camp north of Hughes, learning to drive a caterpillar tractor, Bill Anarok, Candle Mining Company, building an airport on Hog River, Andy Anderson, marrying his wife in 1933, trapping, cutting wood, his dog, Marten and other sled dogs, learning to speak English, Hughes, and making snowshoes. Susie Williams talks about making a tent out of boat sail material, staying in the village, fish camp in the summer, training her dogs, George Attla, Allakaket, their trapping camp near Hughes and the type of animals she would trap.

H87-78-02 Lavine and Susie Williams talk about Indian place names for the Kobuk area, Beaver Creek, Kobuk River, Kiana Village, Hog River, Pah River, Dora Tosuk, Cutoff, Old Isaac's trip to buy a gun, Koyukuk River, Chalkyitsik, City of Paris boat, Bettles, Huslia, Old Man River, Hess Creek, Little William's cabin, Old Man Attla, Chief John, Jack Eisenberg, Little Peter, Al Isaac, Sophie Sam, Eliza Attla, and Birch Creek.
