Abstract:
H87-78-18 Richard Derendoff talks about where he was born, how he was trained to live off the country, his education, Koyukuk, learning the right place to set traps, seasonal activities, summer camp on the Yukon, trapping, his first wife, Flora Derendoff, the problem of tuberculosis in some families, Cutoff, Sally Pilot, Big Charlie, Julia Cook, Tom Cook, his parents, Goltchik Derendoff and Lucy Derendoff. Angeline talks about a village that existed before she was born, Huslia, traveling up to Hughes, Cutoff, when English started to be used, Jack Sackett teaching people to read and write, her education, the Native names for her parents, Cecilia Happy, and Happy John Isaac.

H87-78-19 Richard Derendoff talks about how he dislocated his hip joint when he was ten years old, going to the hospital in Tanana, being treated for appendicitis, his eye surgery, the dangers of open water in the ice, Pete Cleaver, and Bill Folger. Angeline Derendoff talks about Stevens Village, an old village on the Dulbi River where they had potlatches at Christmas and New Years, her mother's description of igloos, a man with ten wives, dances at potlatch, and rituals for widows.

Angeline Derendoff talks about where her parents lived below Huslia, Lucy John, Cecilia Happy, Owen Frances, Cutoff, moving around to several seasonal camps, Old Cutoff Trading Post, Huntington Slough, her mother and father starting a new village, Jimmy Huntington, and Harry Jones.
