For each item, one DVD contains silent footage, and one DVD contains footage with added narration. Narrated footage contains some stops and pauses as narrator identifies people, locations, and activities.

AAF-10856 is a compilation of 3 original reels labeled "Lhmon and Freighting to Myrtle Creek." AAF-10857 is labeled "Old Fairbanks."
Abstract:
AAF-10856 includes aerial view of Nome, Nome waterfront, aerial views of Seward Peninsula, mining operation, truck pulling long length of pipe, Mirow Air Service Loening flying boat airplane, dredge operating on Seward peninsula, Pacific Alaska Airways Lockheed Electra, Caterpillar and power shovel working at placer gold mining operation, men clean-up gold in sluice box, various views of working placer mining operation, small riverboat, brief views of Palmer, hard rock mining operation in Hatcher Pass, aerial tramway operating, Alaska Railroad bus on rails, aerial view of Copper Center (?), aerial view of Fairbanks, Northern Commercial Caterpillar shop on Second Avenue in Fairbanks, interior of office, railroad travel and family scenes, Ice Carnival Parades at Fairbanks, Ice Carnival dog races and activities on the Chena River during 1940 1946 and 195, barge trip with riverboats Idler and Mudhen taking barges with Caterpillars and other equipment, and Cat train during winter hauling freight through wooded area and cross country to Wiseman. Additional film has suffered water damage; images include Lounsbury boys, village along ocean, family and farm scenes taken outside of Alaska, winter scenes in Fairbanks, boys shovel off roof and play in snow, and family posing for photos. AAF-10856 with narration includes descriptions and identifications made by longtime Fairbanksan George Lounsbury on November 19, 2014. George and the Lounsbury family appear in portions of the film.

AAF-10857 images include people on Fairbanks streets including Joe Crosson with bowtie, people on bus, bus trip on Steese Highway during winter, children on street, men outside of F.E. Company building, rotary snowplow operation, Ice Carnival or Winter Carnival parade floats, winter bus travel, Fairbanks street scenes, woman with puppies, men outside building, woman with baby, men with dead wolf, men outside of Billy Root's Transportation Company office at Chatanika (?), people standing next to bus, men pushing car at gas station, cars and trucks along road, men outside of F.E. Company building, people posing on Fairbanks streets, trucks travelling along road during winter, crowd lining Cushman Street and sled dog teams, Leonhard Seppala, and Caterpillar plowing road. AAF-10857 with narration includes descriptions and identifications made by longtime Fairbanksan George Lounsbury on November 19, 2014.

According to George Lounsbury, the first approximately 30 minutes of AAF-10856 are Dan Lhamon and Rod Wolff films ending with the parade sequence. The next approximately 15 minutes are Johnny Repo (sp?) and Walter Rasmussen (sp?) films beginning with the boat sequence and ending with views of the Third Rail at Wiseman. The remainder of the reel is Lounsbury family films beginning with scenes of a mine at Ester Dome and scenes at Kotzebue followed by a family visit to Iowa. AAF-10857 is all Dan Lhamon and Rod Wolff films.
