Abstract:
Summary: AAF-7897 is 8mm color film from ADF&G biologist Scott Brainard including flights by Super Cub and helicopter to and from the department's Dall Sheep capture station at ? Creek on the northern slopes of the Alaska Range. Images include sheep, the capture station and mountain scenery. AAF-7898 is 16mm color film from the Fairbanks office with images taken during a fish project on the Sagavanirktok River during 1971. AAF-7899 contains images of travel on the North Slope dated July 1977. Accompanying notes for images include: flying across Yukon River flying Fairbanks to Umiat, landing and taking off at Bettles Field, relief map of Northern Alaska, pilot Pete Haggland, flight through Anaktuvuk Pass, relief map of Brooks Range and North Slope, flight from Anaktuvuk Pass across tundra and Colville River Delta, wide of Helmericks home from air, unidentified Eskimo village from air, Jean and George interview villagers about channel blockage (silent), take off from village, animated map of Colville River Basin, view of Umiat and landing at Umiat, field of Lupines, Pete, Jean and George exit Umiat Hilton, panorama of Umiat, putting bumpers on dock, float plane lands and is tied, truck from Umiat warehouse, biologists talk with George, pile of baggage, float plane is loaded and takes off, flight down Colville basin, Ramparts of Brooks Range and lakes to be surveyed, plane takes off and setting up camp, view of biologists, testing and sounding lake, stringing net, men in boat with sack of fish, Northern Pike, biologists examine fish, flight over Arctic coast and shore ice, foggy shore, flight over tundra and ice-filled lakes during July, flight over Prudhoe Bay installation, maps of pipeline route, George and Jean and Prudhoe Bay biologists, biologists tend nets and take out specimens, river outside Prudhoe, aerial view of pipeline truck along North Slope Haul Road and Pump Stations.
