Abstract:
ORAL HISTORY 99-07-04 SIDE A Justus Mekiana talks about the types of supplies they bought at the trading post, concern about the weight of supplies, medicine, buying shells for their guns, traveling to Kobuk and Bettles for supplies, where Simon Paneak and Frank Rulland camped, his family moving to the Kobuk area in 1943, returning to the Killik River area in 1946, caribou returning to the Kobuk area in 1945, staying at Enekalikruak Creek, moving in August to hunt for good caribou skins, catching grayling in Kaniksrak and the Hugo family joining them in 1946.

ORAL HISTORY 99-07-04 SIDE B Justus Mekiana talks about his father traveling to Kobuk to marry Rebecca, travel during 1947, travel to the trading post at Beechey Point, hunting in the Umiat area, returning to the Killik, the flu in 1949 that killed several people including Peter Morry and Chris Hugo, traveling to Tulugak Lake to join Simon Paneak and Elijah Kakinya, and moving to Tulugak Lake for supplies and summer school.
