Abstract:
In order to study potential effects of proposed hydroelectric development in the Devils Canyon area of the Susitna River, baseline information on moose movements within the affected area is being collected. The Alaska Power Authority sponsored this study, which continues a study reported by the same authors in 1978. Radio collars and visual collars were placed on adults captured between the confluences of the Maclaren River and Devil Creek during the October 1976 and March 1977 period. Movement behavior indicates that moose from many portions of the Susitna River drainage use habitats within or adjacent to the impoundment areas.
