This document states that the study area would be focused on communities in the Denali Borough and Matanuska-Susitna Borough that are located in close proximity to the components of the Project such as the dam and powerhouse, impoundment area, or road and transmission line corridors. However, the actual study later included Matanuska-Susitna Borough (and the communities Chase, Houston, Point Mackenzie, Talkeetna, Trapper Creek, and Wasilla), Denali Borough (and the community Cantwell), Fairbanks North Star Borough (and the town Fairbanks), Municipality of Anchorage, and Kenai Peninsula Borough (and the towns Seward and Whittier). Data for the state of Alaska will be used for comparison.
Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to assess potential changes in population, housing, public goods and services, and other quality of life factors resulting from the construction and operation of the proposed Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project and potential changes in regional economic conditions resulting from the non-power effects of the Project.
