Abstract:
Baseline data on bats in the area of the proposed Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project will be collected to assess potential loss and modification of habitat likely to result from Project development. The study accesses the occurrence of bats and the distribution of their habitats, and documents roosting locations used by bats and potential geological features and human-made structures for potential use by bats. The study area encompasses the reservoir inundation zone, the proposed dam and powerhouse locations, and camp facilities, but not the access and transmission corridors. Although not mentioned in this report, the only known bat of Southcentral and Interior Alaska is the little brown bat (Myotis lucifugus).
